from blogging.
Getting way too busy in life and nobody likes to read a blog that is never updated.
I'm reading more books, talking to more people and living life a little. Then I will return.
Ciao for now.
Thanks to SCOOTER LAFORGE for the photography.

I <3 the Barras
No sarcastic tone here. Its raw, real and you won't see any yuppies.

Glasgow has such an amazing history...I can't quite believe this is Sauchiehall Street in the 1950s...not a drunken student in sight!
There is a great Channel 4 documentary on 80s band Scheme from Easterhouse...its worth checking out. Pre-tracksuits hitting the streets.

Those were the days...
A classic look, pre-surgery, hip-hop producers and struggling for credibility. There’s a greatest hits out end of 09…hope it’s a career spanning one. None of this hard candy pish!
Looking forward to the Marcus Leatherdale edition of ONE Magazine out next week. Marcus was an iconic photographer from the late 70s downtown art scene of NY and took his excellent shot of M in 1983…
Styled by Marcus…pose by Marcus…vision by Marcus – Obv. Before she developed her own.

Americas Next Top TrannyI
I hate Tv. Despite over 500 billion channels on offer, the quality standard has dropped below belief (Personally I only have a freeview box)...I gotta say BBC 4 is phenomenal. They had a jazz season the past few months and it was probably the best music show I've seen in at least 5 years.
Anyway...the reason I'm writing this is to say I usually go online to watch shows I like. ANTM is one I tend to entertain myself with. The other day...trying to avoid studying...I gave myself a not deserved break and watch ANTM. The phone rang half way though and I had to pause it. When I returned, this is the scene that greeted me.
I literally laughed out loud...Tyra at her best.

Maripol
Maripol, the creative director of Fiorucci and Madonna's ripped wedding dress, rubber bangle look in the mid-80s...is a ledgend.
She is also a polaroid photographer...and my obsession with Polaroid is never ending. So much though, that skint and penniless living in NYC I managed to talk round the manager of Anna Sui in Soho to get her Maripolarama book half price!
I must've bought the book about a year ago now, but it gives me endless pleasure. It has been my bed side companion ever since...thank you for the inspiration.

Deconstruction
Finally got around to taking photos of some of my paintings and drawings.
Go to my FLICKR if you wanna see them.
The quality of the pics are a bit shoddy but you get the drift.
Gemma got a negative scanner for her birthday and did these pics. I think they turned out really well...thnx Gemgems.

Brownie Box negative 5
These were from 120 film left in a Brownie Box camera I picked up at a stall in Grassmarket, Edinburgh, last summer. I just developed it.
I love the surprise of film generally, but these were a full surprise as I was not the photographer. I love the idea of seeing into someones world through the lens. A couple came out quite well.

Vivienne Westwood and the saga with Peaches Geldoff
Now I know I'm among good company when I say, Peaches Geldoff can be such a twat!
Now honey I know it ain't your fault. I'm sending you good vibes, but please can you stop trying so hard to be cool and actually respect yourself.
This leads me to express my undying love for Viv. You HAVE to watch this video. She hits the nail on the head.
Peaches: "What message would you give to NYLON readers?"
Vivienne: "Read Books!"
Hahaha, I LOVE YOU!!!!
x
(I still love magazines. Thats not the point!)

Better with Age...
Not Whiskey...
Dazed and Confused. You keep getting better and better.
x
I love magazines. There can be no lie. I have bookshelves filled with them: I-D / Pop / GQ Style / BUTT / The Face / Nylon / Misbehave / Lula / Plastique / Wonderland / New York Style / Focus / Anthem / Vogue / L'Officiel Hommes / Dazed and Confused....the list goes on (and they are a bitch to move so it is proof of my love).
Some newly aquired titles include Mixte March edition and Encens Raf Simons special, purchased in Colette (see previous blog and Flickr entries) last month.
However, these have not stolen my heart yet. However, two new titles are well on their way to doing so, I present the new titles in my life...

Lookbook Paris
Posted some new pics on Lookbook from my travels.
http://lookbook.nu/look/89948-Train-to-Paris
http://lookbook.nu/look/92928-He-Said-the-Air-was-Better-in-Paris
Had an amazing time in Paris: art, culture, friends, shopping, eating, research and inspiration. All in one! I stayed with a friend, Jim Haynes at his wonderful atelier in Alesia and of course attended his famous Sunday dinner. In case you havent seen him in the Guardian or heard him on the radio, every Sunday Jim hosts a diner party for friend, allies and anyone else who fancies a night in with Paris' finest. Find him online at www.jim-haynes.com or give him a call at +33 143271767 and have a chat.
Went to the David LaChapelle exhibition with Adeline (http://lookbook.nu/user/4739-Adeline-R). My expectations were quite low so I was presently surprised. I love the large format, glossy, high contrast imagery and when taken at face value it is fun and hot. The only issue I had with the exhibition was the need for the curator to force spiritual, political and intellectual ideals on celebrity based ‘art’. What came first: the celebrity or the LaChapelle?
While doing some research on design schools I bumped into Margaux and Julian. They are the coolest kids in Paris, so kind and great to hang out with. Cheers Guys!!! x
So I took about 2000 photos while I was away...but its taken me about 6 hours to upload only a fraction to Flickr. Let the pictures tell the story.

British graphic designer Anthony Burrill’s exhibition "Geometry in Nature" is showing at Colette (rue de Saint Honore, Paris) until March 7.
Anthony Burrill is a graphic artist who works in print, installation, moving image and interactive, web based projects. He was born in Littleborough, Lancashire and now lives and works on the Isle of Oxney, Kent. After studying graphic design at Leeds Polytechnic he completed an MA in Graphic Design at the Royal College of Art, London where he created his now trademark technique for direct communication.
I love his bright perspex images used alongside Colettes unique collection...they look amazing!

Studio Shoot
I just posted a bunch of outakes from the shoot with Gemma Burke. Can I just say Gemma, you fucking rock. We just did a shoot on Wednesday out in the snow...which within 2 hours turned into blazing sun. Glasgow was treating us well, as the final shots turned out amazingly. I'll be posting these soon.

Adidas Originals House Party - by Sid Lee
I’m usually a total cynic when it comes to huge commercial conglomerates trying to reach the young hipsters with advertisments featuring multiple celebrity endorsement or ‘teen’ going-ons such as house partys. BUUUUT…I fucking love the Adidas Ad for the Originals House Party. Even though I don’t really like/even know the people in the ad, it looks like great fun. Kudos to Sid Lee who created the campaign. They worked on the Beatles Love/Cirque de Soleil project too. Good stuff.

Rowena True
I am in love with Rowena True at the moment. Her Barbie/Madonna mash up is genius, and comes right at a perfect time where stop-animation is so en vogue.
